Fashion Trends: Fall/Winter Hairstyles 2011

Well ladies, I'm excited. All types of braids, messy buns, double knots, sculpted side parts, bangs, 60's styles, 70's styles, chignons, ponytails, gender crossing styles and side buns are in this Fall and Winter. Braids, messy buns, ponytails and chignons = easy. Easy = less time getting your hair together in the morning. Less time getting your hair together in the morning = more time to sleep.

Fashion Trends: Wide Leg Pants

Elegant and classy, wide leg pants are ooooh so comfortable.
They were big this Spring and are here to stay through the Fall and Winter!

Tips for How to Wear Wide Leg Pants:

• With heels. Flats will simply never complete the look as well as heels will; the exception is if you’re carrying off a very masculine look with man-style flats.

• With a slim-fitting top to balance out the volume on the bottom half. A soft, billowing blouse can also work well but is best broken up with a waist-cinching belt.

• With utter 70s glamour: wide-leg trouser, platforms and a big floppy hat.

• Female dandy style – look to vintage icons like Katharine Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich for inspiration.

• With 40s pin-up girl flair, by pairing some wide-legged sailor pants with nautical stripes and espadrilles.

Fashion Trends: Polka Dot Hot

Word on the street is that Polka Dots are back in style this Fall. I'm down with that, I heart Polka Dots. Here are some of my favorite looks from around the Blogosphere.

Tips on how to wear Polka Dots this Fall
  • Wear traditional polka dot colors. Lime green and pink polka dots – while a cute combo for a 14-year-old – is a little overwhelming for women over 40. Opt instead for combos like navy and white, black and white, etc.
  • Wear just one polka dot piece. Although designers showed head-to-toe looks, a little dot goes a long way. It's a great way to add some oomph to solid pieces.
  • Try the polka dot trend in small doses. A polka dot scarf or bag is a perfect way to buy into the trend. Or try black dotted tights (tone-on-tone) for a textured look.
  • Wear polka dots at home. If you're not ready to venture out in dots, try a polka dot apron (Etsy has lots) or pjs. You'll love what a fun, uplifting print this is. There are also lots of dot print pieces available now for your home decor, too. (article via Style Goes Strong)
