Experience & Explore: Temescal Gateway Park, Pacific Palisades (and Conan O'Brian)

Perhaps it's just me, and perhaps it's just because I wasn't raised here, but from time to time a strong urge comes over me to escape the over-crowded grid of Los Angeles. If you've ever felt the same, this post is for you.

There's an innate need to be in nature surrounded by trees, dirt, water, birds...silence. Lucky for me, my boyfriend feels the same need to escape the people, noise and traffic and spend some time re-charging...even if it's only for an hour or so.

We jumped in the car in Santa Monica and headed up through Brentwood into the Pacific Palisades where Temescal Gateway Park is located, surprisingly to me, only 15-20 minutes outside of Santa Monica. This park contains numerous scenic trails that will lead you through the beautiful Santa Monica mountains. "The park encompasses 141 acres of oak and sycamore canyons, ridgetop views, and access to miles of trails in Topanga State Park, Will Rogers State Historic Park, and the 20,000-acre “Big Wild.” -LA Mountains

After our mini gettaway, we headed back down to reality and into the Pacific Palisades to get some dinner at Beech Street. Conan O'Brien and his family were sitting right in front of us. Due to the nature of our jobs, my boyfriend and I have been around many a celebrity and I've never seen him star stuck....until Conan O'Brien came along (Timbaland is a close second). As we were on our way out, my boyfriend stops to say Hi to Conan (who was very nice might I add) and asks if he remembers the "Potato Head Judge" skit that he did on this show some 16 years ago. He did. :)
